Dal Makhni
Ingredients
- 250g dry whole urad dal
- 50g dry dark red kidney beans
- 1kg tomatoes (10-11 plum tomatoes)
- 2 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp grated garlic
- 1 tbsp jeera
- 2 bay leafs
- 1 cinamon stick
- 2 cloves
- 4 cardomon pods
- 2 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp kasoori methi
- 5 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp ghee
Instructions
- cook dal and rajma first in plain water
- heat ghee 1 tbsp, hing, jeera 1 tbsp, bay leaf, cinamon, 2 cloves, cardomon 4
- Then add grated ginger (2 tbsp) and garlic
- Then add yogurt
- Then add tomato puree
- red chili powder, kassori methi, salt, 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Bhuno, then add dal, and let it cook.
- Finish with 2 tbsp butter, and add yogurt if using
